It doesn't matter how you get to Bluebird Lake. Any way in is quite a good hike. The trade route leaves the Thunder Lake Trail between Ouzel Falls and the North St. Vrain and heads through the big burn into upper Ouzel Creek. Be sure and stop at Ouzel Lake or Chickadee Pond on the way. Stock isn't allowed up the big rock bench before you get to the lake. Above the lake there are four smaller lakes and a few good snowfields that are really worth the trip.
